Auto Industry Bailout

Published by mxyplix8 at 7:43 pm under current events, my life, politics Edit This

How about instead of bailing out the auto industry, as is the newest bailout on the plate, how about the Democrats and Congress do something worthwhile, like, for instance, letting the industry fall apart, forcing it to make some changes.  I understand that many jobs rely on the auto industry, but the industry could probably grow if it were forced to make one simple change: Electric Cars.  I understand this is a farfetched and revolutionary (ha) thought, but think about it.  By switching to electric, the auto industry would have to completely overhaul its entire production mode.  Rebuilding and redesigning factories will create more jobs than a temporary band-aid in the name of another bailout.  Along with this will come the need for the installation of power sources throughout the country in parking lots and various other places (ahhh, more jobs).  Then on top of it, it will solve one of the most perplexing questions that politicians have faced for the past 30 years, how on Earth does a country dependent on the automobile become free of foreign oil?
